700 Bars of Green and Black’s Chocolate…………………..YUMMMMMM!

Not so long ago, we helped to create this record-breaking art installation for Green & Blacks chocolates.

Commissioned to coincide with the launch of the new packaging, the installation comprised of a contemporary mosaic piece of art by Sir Peter Blake - who also famously created the Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers album cover. At 4m wide x 3m high the free-standing unit comprised of a large format print rear-mounted to clear acrylic panel which was overlaid with 700 bars of chocolate!

2LK Design were responsible for the detail design, specification and execution – right down to the arm-aching fixing of each chocolate bar to the wall! Although I’m sure Michaela, Dan and the guys managed to sustain themselves by sampling a few – they even brought a few back to the office for us to try!

The display was installed to run alongside a website where visitors could imitate Sir Peter's work themselves by creating their very own piece of artwork using the new packaging – and the prize? The display itself, complete with 700 bars of chocolate!

The display was installed at Cadburys head office for a PR photo shoot with Sir Peter Blake in attendance and then the whole thing was moved to the The Rag Factory in Brick Lane, London for an high profile art event including work from Tracey Emin.

Look out for the display in the Guinness Book of World Records too! An application was made for the display to go into the famous book for the largest confectionery piece of art in the world!

Our thanks go to ‘Agency Republic’ who we worked with on this one – and who also created this beautiful film.

On Ya Bike!

Congratulations to Michaella & Gaby for raising money for the British Heart Foundation by going on a sponsored bike ride from Richmond to Windsor; they raised £255.00 and £312.00 respectively!!!

Michaella cycled the 29 mile route in just over 3hrs 15min and Gaby did the longer 37 mile route in a fast 3hrs 30min raising a fantastic sum including gift aid of £722.00 between them. Well done to both of you!

There was about four and a half thousand cyclist taking part in this event; so big it took nearly an hour just to get to the start line! The route started off in Richmond and ran alongside the Thames which was a nice flat ride, however once they got further along the course they began to experience some hills but they did not let this faze them and cycled up every hill with dogged determination. The route then split into two sections for Professional and Non Professional cyclists! Gaby had decided from the beginning that she was going to go on the longer route so it was no surprise that once she got to the point of choosing which way to go she chose the longer route. Michaella was cycling together with her friend and had started far behind Gaby; she was not to sure which route to choose and was going to decide once she got to the junction, unfortunately her cycling buddy did not feel up to doing the long ride so Michaella cycled the short route.

The worst bit for Gaby was once she got onto the Professional route, the hills started getting bigger, longer and much harder to cycle up, but digging deep she found a bit of extra energy to overcome even these.

Gaby & Michaella would like to thank everyone who supported them in their attempt to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Special thanks from Gaby to her Husband who went out on every long training ride and ended up with a sore backside! :-)

Thank you Gaby for the contribution – at last I’m not the lone 2LK Blogger!!

40 x 3 = Fresh’n’Funky

That’s 3 of us!

Andy aka Big’n’Bad brought home his very own special party incarnation – Fresh’n’Funky Productions – in celebration of his BIG day! The big guy took to the decks (virtual PC type things!) to play his thing and celebrate in style – a good turn out of friends, family and colleagues obviously had a good time.

The outfit selected didn’t quite fit – so a tailored shirt was specially commissioned and we are awaiting the modelling photos – update to come
!

Also, we are awaiting some more photos, strangely they are a scarce – but I’ll post any that I can find.

More of Fresh’n’Funky as well – this won’t be a one off! Future dates are in the pipeline and the latest news, posts etc can al be found at the Facebook page – click away to find out more………….

P1000977  Happy Birthday big man – enjoy the holiday, see you next week.

40

Well, that’s it! The fountain of youth ran out for the 2LK Blogger and I’m now 40!

I’m not the only one this year at 2LK to hit this landmark, Gareth celebrated a few months back and Andy is not far behind – more on Fresh’n’Funky next week!! B’n’B is celebrating by spinning the wheels of steel and playing some ‘Phat! Tunes’ at his Birthday bash this weekend, so I’ll be updating the blog with some photos of that on Monday.

Meanwhile, I celebrated in a far more relaxed style and headed off with the family to explore the delights of ‘Kernow’.

Birthday lunch at Jamie Oliver’s 15 in Watergate Bay was an excellent way to start the week, with the remainder of the afternoon spent on the sand watching the surfers which was pretty cool.

Sand castles built and lunch run off, we headed back to our retreat of Little Carwinnick which was fantastic, Pam & Nigel have the most fantastic cottages and barns in the middle of the Cornish countryside – beautiful location on the Roseland Peninsula, a brilliant base for our week of exploring.

Highlights of the week include, Afternoon Tea at the Lugger Hotel on dismal rainy afternoon. Introducing the kids to Scones, Jam and Clotted Cream – the view from the tiny slipway in the bottom of the cove is amazing.

St Mawes is also pretty cool, great Castle and loads of boats over to Falmouth and other places. St Agnes was also really nice, lovely beach, good surf and very picturesque.

But finally, we had to head home – but on the way we made one more discovery! Porthcothan.

What a brilliant place and what a fantastic way to spend our last day in Cornwall. The beach is beautiful, surrounded by the most amazing cliffs and rock formations – great sand – wonderful rock pools – loads of surf etc. There are even the ubiquitous Bay Watch style Life Guards.

Thankfully, it was one of the sunnier days of our holiday – shame it was the last!

We might be back…….

Anyway, Happy Birthday me!

Congratulations to Duncan & Rose

Weddings are a wonderful thing and last week Duncan finally got round to doing the decent thing and marrying his long suffering girlfriend, Rose.

Obviously, Rose looked resplendent and Duncan was the Smartest we’d ever seen him!

So off to Chichester we went in best suits, ties and dresses to celebrate with them – unfortunately they refused to take us all to Thailand with them on Honeymoon – bah! Anyway, we hope they have a fantastic time and enjoy the sunshine.

Although, for the bit we did attend, we had a great time – girls looked lovely and the guys didn’t brush up to bad either(apart from the wardrobe doppelgangers!!)

Rumour has it, that not only did Gareth and David arrive together and leave together, but they got dressed  together……… anything else they did is just hearsay!

Everybody enjoyed the warm Summer evening and the generous doses of Champagne, there were a few sore heads the next day after the late night celebrations, cheers!!!

Finally, I have to say that we wish the happy couple all the best for the future……and see you soon.
